Ashmi

Jay(25) and his father Yogesh(52) are out on a road trip, the father-son duo resides in Ahmedabad and are going to a place which Yogesh dearly loves, everything seems extremely sorted between them, but in fact, it isn’t. Jay is constantly trying to strike up conversations, wanting his father to open up and talk freely, Yogesh on the other end, he is pretending to be normal, and for the most part, he does look normal, in their failed conversations, few realities are realised, Jay’s mother, Urmi died more than a year ago, Jay has a girlfriend named Mahima, and their impending marriage is just around the corner, the only thing stopping the marriage is, A Pooja in Urmi’s name, after which they can conduct the marriage rituals.

They reach their destination, a serene and secluded guest house near a flowing river. The place, the silence brings many memories for Yogesh, The Last time he had come with Urmi to this place, his spirit took the air of the place, and tranquility soon transitioned into uncomfortable confrontations from Jay, and the emotional and mental chaos ensued in Yogesh’s head. On the night their final confrontation happens, Jay drops his gentle approach and confronts his father’s inability to move on from Urmi’s death to date. Yogesh is still reluctant to accept the fact, but Jay hits the final nail in the coffin when he outs Yogesh for his secret visits to the cemetery.

Yogesh curses Jay for snooping on him, but Jay leaves him be, Yogesh’s secret grieving is out so is his stubbornness to not move on and not let anyone help him well, through the night he grieves, coming to terms with Urmi’s loss in segments, burning the handkerchief given to him by Urmi which he hold dear all these months. He lets it go, He STARTS LETTING IT GO.

Director Biography - Anuj Tank

Anuj is a young and passionate individual who dares to take initiatives when it comes to storytelling. In his initial days, he started working in theatre and used to work in all the departments. He started loving cinema as a kid and his love for films has always been unique aspect of his individuality. That's how theatre and cinema has been equal darlings to him. While making his own short films, he has also been part of many films and web shows as an assistant, associate and creative director. His recent outing as a director includes a short film - Ashmi which is a delicate tale of father and son. Anuj Tank is founder of Airavat Entertainment.
