Hi! I'm Ashlyn!
I've been making movies for as long as I can remember. You could find nine year-old me dragging my little sister and all of my cousins into my insane productions (as soon as I got my hands on an iPod Touch.)
Now, at 20 years old, it's safe to say that practically nothing has changed. My love for creating has probably tripled. I've been acting for over two years at Actors Playground School of Theatre. I also studied at and worked on multiple projects with Syndicate Productions & Film School. I've written and starred in a plethora of student skits, films, and other small productions, such as PHILOPHOBIA and TETHER, short films directed by my best friend and fellow filmmaker, MJ Hughes (now streaming on YouTube!).
At 9PM EST on November 15th, 2024, my first ever student short film - SAUDADE - will be uploaded to YouTube! Made with zero budget and lots of love (for an intro to film class at college), SAUDADE got into four film festivals, had its world premiere at Regal Union Square in New York City, and won an award for Best Student Film at Jersey City's Golden Door International Film Festival. I'm so excited for the world to see it.
I was born and raised in New Jersey, and am currently an undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey, where I study World Languages & Linguistics (specializing in Spanish) and Communication Studies (specializing in Emerging Communication Technologies). I'm absolutely fascinated with language, technology, and finding different ways to communicate and connect with others. Balancing school and my creative endeavors has definitely been tricky, but also immensely rewarding, as some of my best friends in college are now the people who appear (voluntarily, kinda) in my projects.
If I'm not behind or in front of a camera, you can find me hiking, gaming, reading, trying new foods, writing, dueling local dragons, and/or participating in general hijinks and tomfoolery with friends.
My inspiration for everything that I do boils down to my love for humanity. Film is such a wonderfully human creation, and the magic of filmmaking brings people together from all different walks of life. This is just the beginning of my journey as a filmmaker, and I can't wait to see where this adventure takes me!
