Experiencing Interruptions?

As Moças

The video “As Moças” presents the story of three young ladies from the countryside who move to a quiet and peaceful street in the capital and develop bonds of friendship with their neighbor Dona Maria and other local women. With their unique stories and characteristics, the three ladies share the daily life of the neighborhood until they scandalize their new friends at a party they promoted. The neighbors discover that instead of working at a night school, as they had said, the ladies lead a parallel life as prostitutes.

Adapted from the homonymous tale by writer Jane Tutikian, the project was conceived and coordinated by the actress and director Elisa Lucas, and developed remotely with a collaborative team. The video was recorded at the home of the project coordinator, who plays 14 characters in a hybrid work of theater, audiovisual and scenic reading.

The video marks the debut of the Extension Project "Palavra e Sensibilidade: Leituras cênicas de contos de Jane Tutikian em ambiente virtual", linked to the Núcleo de Comunicação e Cultura do Instituto de Artes of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). It is aimed at disseminating the work of female writers, the scenic reading in a virtual environment, and the consumption of cultural activities on the Internet during the period when many theaters are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
