As Daylight Fades

At the onset of the film, Johnny enters a video store called The Majestic to buy a DVD for date night with his girlfriend Joi. The video clerk, Dylan, who has a big scar on the left side of his lip suggests a movie called “As Daylight Fades” and takes down Johnny’s name and address. When Johnny gets home he sees an electrician leaving the house after repairing the TV under Joi’s supervision. Johnny and Joi begin watching the DVD which shows a couple – Karl and Carol - in bed disturbed by an alarm. Karl leaves the room to turn the alarm off and returns to Carol being stabbed by a serial killer. Joi and Johnny watch Karl run away from the serial killer until their power goes out. When Johnny goes to turn the power back on he finds Karl’s dead body and rushes back inside. He finds Joi in his room with a knife to her throat and restrained by the serial killer who Johnny recognizes as the video clerk because of his scar. Joi and Johnny escape the house and run to Johnny’s car but Johnny is stabbed and killed by Karl. Joi runs away and jumps over a wall to find a shed full of wires and monitors. She sees the electrician sitting in front of a monitor next to Carol and a cameraman whilst Dylan approaches her from behind (As Daylight Fades, 2018).
