Art Slope '19 - Shorts in the Slope

GENERAL RULES

Films by independent filmmakers will be accepted for review. Works will be considered for competition only if they are 20 minutes or less (10 minutes or less for Youth Shorts) and completed since January, 2017. Short shorts are welcome! Work must not be widely commercially or publicly available. All genres accepted; separate awards will be given for narrative and documentary films.

All qualified entries must be independently produced and financed. Films produced, financed or developed by a major film studio or television network are ineligible for competition.

Please ensure that your film plays fully before finalizing your submission. Also clearly indicate title, total running time and email address on your submission.
If accepted, we may require you to submit a high resolution copy of your film.
Please ensure that if your submission contains copyrighted material by anyone other than yourself, you have obtained festival clearance for that material. By entering your work, you agree to this and the following stipulations:

1. Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope will not accept any mailed or shipped entries.
2. All entrants will be notified by March 31, 2019.
3. Films screened at the festival should be presented in English or with English subtitles.
4. Film length up to 20 minutes (up to 10 minutes for Youth Shorts.)
5. Work must have been produced since January, 2017.
6. Submission fee is nonrefundable.
7. A separate entry fee is required for each submission.
8. To be fair to all filmmakers, fee waivers are not offered.
9. We accept “works in Progress.” However, we will not showcase uncompleted films. If we accept your film and do not receive the completed film prior to March 15, 2019 you will be taken out of the schedule.
10. After selection notice letters will be sent electronically.

Late Submission – Deadline March 15, 2019 $30
Submission fee is not refundable.

AWARDS
Awards will be announced and presented following Saturday evening’s screening at the festival closing party..

PUBLICITY
By signing the entry form, the filmmaker gives Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope permission to use all submitted promotional materials, including but not limited to film stills, descriptions, director’s biography and film screening history in any and all forms of media for the express purpose of festival promotion and publicity. Please note Art Slope ‘17 - Shorts in the Slope may petition filmmakers to use clips of one minute or less from films selected for both television in internet publicity. Art Slope ’19 - Shorts in the Slope will not authorize any television broadcast of footage from any submitted film without the consent of the filmmaker and producers.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE
No liability or responsibility is assumed by Art Slope or the Park Slope Civic Council or affiliated entities or persons resulting from any person’s participation in, or attempt to participate in Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope, or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope. No responsibility or liability is assumed by Art Slope 19 Shorts in the Slope or the Park Slope Civic Council or affiliated entities or persons for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences: hardware or software failures or errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of any web site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestions on the internet or any web site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention in Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking theft, virus, bug, worm, or destruction of any aspect of the festival, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with Art Slope ’19 - Shorts in the Slope. Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope and affiliated entities or persons are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained in any web site. Use of any affiliated web site is at user’s own risk. Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope and affiliated entities or persons are not responsible for any person injury, harm, property damage or loss of any kind which may be sustained by any Entrant or any person’s person or property resulting from participating in the festival, use of any affiliated web site or the download or any information. By participating in Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope, Entrant agrees to, and hereby does, release, indemnify and hold Art Slope ‘19 - Shorts in the Slope and the Park Slope Civic Council harmless from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Entrant’s participation or involvement in Art Slope ’19 – Shorts in the Slope.
