Around the Fire
After four students of color are accepted to a historically white private liberal arts college, they are sent on a separate pre-orientation camping trip into the woods with a white counselor from the school. Just as personalities clash, and tensions rise, a mysterious disappearance leaves them stranded in the woods with no rescue in sight. As they learn to survive the wild, they also have to learn to survive one another.

Ron Anahaw and Sam Mistry are a writing duo who met during their studies at Bennington College.
As two men-of-color studying at a predominantly white institution, we began to assess what survival meant for us, and for others like us. What does true inclusivity look like? What does solidarity between minorities look like? How can we help each other heal, and how do we harm each other? We didn't know the answers. So we decided to tell a story.
