Rules & Terms

·Eligibility
Film Type: Arizona Summer Film Fest accepts all types of films, including but not limited to feature films, documentaries, short films, animations, experimental films, and music videos. We especially welcome original works as well as innovative and artistic films.
Duration: Short films must be less than 30 minutes, and feature films must be more than 30 minutes. The duration of all entries must be clearly indicated.
Language: Non-English films must have English subtitles. English titles can optionally be subtitled in other languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German, etc.).
Completion time: All entries must have been completed within the last three years, and films that have already been publicly screened at other film festivals will not be accepted (unless the film does not involve commercial screening during the release of the relevant program).

·How to Submit
Submission platform: All film works must be submitted through the official website or the officially designated email address. Please make sure that you fill in the correct movie information when submitting and that the submitted movie file format is compliant.
Video Format: Please submit a file in MP4 or MOV format with a resolution of at least 1080p. The high quality of the video files helps us to have the best possible screenings during the festival.
Description: When submitting, participants are required to provide a brief introduction of the film, a brief introduction of the director/screenwriter, the background of the creation, as well as the poster and stills of the film. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all information so that the festival organizing team can carry out proper publicity.

·Judging Criteria
Judging Committee: All entries will be judged by a judging panel composed of film industry experts, renowned directors, producers, screenwriters and film scholars. The jury will score entries based on the following criteria:
Creativity and innovation: the uniqueness of the film, the creative expression and the innovation of the form.
Storytelling: The episodic, emotional, rhythmic, and overall structure of the story.
Director's skills: The director's expressiveness and control over the story in the film.
Vision & Photography: Visual effects, photographic techniques, and the artistry of composition.
Sound and editing: the smoothness of the coordination and editing of sound effects, as well as the combination of sound and visual effects.
Judging process: The judging process will be anonymous to ensure that each entry is judged impartially. Only films that make it to the shortlist will be included in the selection and have a chance to win an award.

·Copyright and Legal Liability
Copyright Notice: Entrants must ensure that their submissions do not infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party and that they have obtained the relevant permissions. Entrants shall be responsible for any copyright, trademark or other legal disputes arising from the content of the work.
Festival Publicity: The organizer of the film festival reserves the right to use the clips, stills, posters and related information of the work for non-commercial purposes such as the promotion of the festival, social media releases, events, etc.

·Film Festival screenings
Screening format: All shortlisted films will be screened in digital format during the festival. We will ensure that the screening conditions meet high quality standards to provide the best possible viewing experience.
Screening schedule: The screening schedule of the Festival will be released after the selection is completed. All shortlisted entries will be scheduled to be presented during the festival according to the schedule.
Audience participation: The festival will also allow the audience to participate in it through online voting, on-site interaction and other forms to select the "Audience Choice Award" and other awards.

·Miscellaneous
Cancellations & Refunds: All fees are non-refundable once the submission fee payment has been completed. If the festival is cancelled due to force majeure, the applicant will be notified and has the option to postpone the competition to the next edition.
Modification and Update: The Organizer of the Festival reserves the right to modify these rules and conditions according to the actual situation, and will update the relevant information on the official website in a timely manner.
