My name is Averi McHugh, and I am an aspiring cinematographer. I found my love for filmmaking at age 14 when I got my first camera.
I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and I moved to Los Angeles when I graduated high school to pursue my dreams of becoming a filmmaker. Ever since, I have grown my portfolio with short films, documentaries, and music videos, along with being a production assistant on set to get my foot in the industry.
I love the art of filmmaking, and I want my work to inspire others and make an impact.
"Are You Really Listening?" is a powerful documentary series that sheds light on sexual assault and harassment. Through intimate interviews with people of various gender identities, this docuseries explores the experiences of marginalized voices. Filmed inside the sanctuary of a women's bathroom, this project aims to raise awareness and spark important conversations about these critical issues.
This project offers a unique perspective on the impact of sexual assault and harassment on women and marginalized communities. By filming inside a women's bathroom, we provide a safe space for candid discussions and honest reflections. Our interviews reveal the emotional and physical toll that these experiences can have on individuals, and highlight the urgent need for change.
I made the series primarily for male audiences because I realized the men closest to me didn't understand what life is like for women in our world. The main goal of the project is to raise awareness and help people, especially men, understand life through women's perspectives. The docuseries includes interviews with people of various gender identities, though the majority of our interviewees identify as women. Join us on this journey towards greater understanding and empathy.
