'Archive & The Storyteller' is first and foremost a love story that happens to take place before the end of the world. When creating it we also wanted to explore how technology and the environment continues to shape the way in which we experience and share our lives with each other. Through the visual medium we wanted to flow through this story and timeline in a way that mimics how we scroll through memories on our phone, or how we might "share" a moment of our life to the internet world. Despite their rapidly deteriorating world, we wanted these two main characters to stay grounded in what really matters most; our abilities to be present in the moment with those we love. We also wanted to look at the social and moral concepts of what it means to own your own story and in this case quite literally sometimes. Making this film during a global pandemic was exponentially difficult, but it was also endlessly rewarding to be able to come together to create and share something positive into the world. As the world changes rapidly, we feel an innate need to tell the story of preserving what we already have, because it is beautiful and fleeting.
