Director Biography - geoffrey boulangé

Geoffrey Boulangé is a french-canadian filmaker and editor based in Montréal, QC. He studied cinema at the E.N.S.A.V (École National Supérieur de L’AudioVisuel) and after few years of activity in France, he settle and live in Montreal since 2009.

As a director, his first short movie Hinterland, won the Tigre Award for short movie at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2007 and was selected in numerous international film festivals. In a search of new adventures, he travelled in North Amercia in 2008, shooting and editing a series of short documentaries for the Montreal based project : Müvmedia.
Then settle in Canada. Since then he worked on divers trans-media projects or documentaries like Code Barre (NFB), les Enfants de la Bolduc (LusioFilm), Les Symptomes Figurants shot on the set of Sophie Deraspe’s Signes Vitaux, create numerous video art as Laurentides I, selected at the Kyoto Art Quake Creativity Biennale and Antimatter Media Art, and a numerous music videos included for Juno Award winning band Esmerine and legendary swiss band : The Young Gods.
2018 he produced and directed the short movie Where Have All The Big Trees Gone selected at the Ecozine Film Festival of Zaragosse.

As an editor, Geoffrey he is a Canadian Screen Award winning for his work on Sophie Deraspe’s Antigone (Genie Awards for best editing and l’IRIS for best editing in 2019).
He start his collaboration with Sophie Deraspe on Profile Amina (Gay Girl in Damascus), nominated at the Genie Award (Best editing in Documentary). The movie was selected at the Sundance Film Festival and the movie won the Prix Gémeaux for best documentary in 2015.
