Apni Kothi
"...as if the house itself was my mom."
Apni Kothi focuses on the feeling of nostalgia of childhood homes, grounded in the home itself as a character. It explores how the home as a space is a marker of the dynamics of the people that occupy it. Avinash and Shilpa explore the position of their mothers—the homemakers—in these households. Through their contrasting feelings of loss, they reflect on how the shift from traditional to urban has modified roles and responsibilities within the family.
