A people under a full sun
A trip to the heart of Senegal, in search of a territory and its invisible boundaries. Nguith is a small village in the department of Linguère, where migration has become a sort of communal surviving strategy. Here started SOUFF, a project by Italian ong Arcs that is creating a model for an agricultural system that might bring a substantial change for the community, trying to diminish the rural exodus and make better life conditions for the inhabitants of Linguère. The film focuses on migration to Italy, both in past and present times, comparing two generations’ aims, hopes, challenges and the achievements that Senegalese fathers were able to provide the children of today, the future generations.
Within this scenario, theatre assumed a linking role between the SOUFF Project and the community of Nguith. The local artistic association Takku Ligey and a company from Modena, Teatro dei Venti started a collaboration that aims to share different theatre practices: this experience of exchanging traditions and cultures has created a synergy that lets the viewer understand how differences play an important role in humans’ development.
