Tyler Tomas Perez is a versatile and dynamic talent in the entertainment industry, known for his successful career as a television actor and his emerging presence as a filmmaker. After establishing himself as a standout performer on popular TV shows like Code Black, LA's Finest and From Dusk Till Dawn, Perez expanded his creative horizons by stepping behind the camera to write and direct. Perez's transition from actor to filmmaker has been marked by his dedication to the craft. Drawing from his rich experience in front of the camera, he brings deep understanding of character development and narrative structure to his directorial work.
I was inspired to make this film when going through one of the toughest transitional periods of my life. I was in a crippling financial hardship, going through a terribly painful breakup and I was experiencing suicidal ideations. With this film, I purged these feelings. I wanted to create a piece of art that would embody the frustration, desperation, and emptiness of that period coupled with the odd bit of cosmic humor that can only be observed after going through it. I tried to achieve this with an abstract approach using stylized sound design and VFX to evoke anxiety. I wanted to highlight the psychological deterioration that occurs in someone who is as lost in life as John is in the film and as I was when writing it. This is my directorial debut and as a first-time filmmaker I ran into a lot of roadblocks but ultimately learned an incredible amount from this project. I hope you enjoy the film.
