For many years, my work across various media has returned to themes of contrast, isolation, and the landscape as a site for otherworldly intrusion. For my first serious foray into narrative filmmaking I knew I wanted to draw on these themes in the context of a journey. I realized almost immediately that the story I wanted to tell was specifically about a journey home, and from there the narrative and aesthetic details emerged almost fully formed.
Antipode is a story about a search for belonging, and about solitude, as an agent of alienation and danger but also of beauty, all expressed through the languages of fantasy and dream-logic.
