Another Year Without You

Hello, my name is Samira. I was born in June 1995 in Tehran, the capital of Iran, a country in the east of middle east, always inflamed by political and social currents. My mother was a nurse and my father was a producer in the polymer industry. Ever since I can remember, I have loved filmmaking, one of my childhood games with my brother, who was one year older than me, was to use our dolls as actors and the rest of the toys as stage decorations, and to write descriptive stories and make movies based on that children's script!
I studied mathematics in high school and in university I studied engineering in one of the best universities of technology in Iran: Amirkabir university of technology , and all these years I wanted to find a bridge between engineering, science and filmmaking.
After graduating from university, I completed a filmmaking course at the Radio and Television Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Center) and started making experimental short films for myself and advertising short films for software companies.
Until I realized that my main concerns are concepts such as longing, death, memories, innocence, loneliness. Since I didn't have a lot of capital and complete equipment to make my films, I thought that short stop motions that I can take with a mobile phone camera and make and edit at home are the best way to start making films and follow the path of my dreams. Interestingly, over time, I felt that this style of filmmaking is exactly what I have always wanted to experience, it is compatible with my mood and it is infinitely enjoyable and pleasant for me.

In addition to filmmaking activities, I founded a magazine that publishes people's memories about various topics and a specialized publication plus a podcast where we review prominent and unknown films and directors.
