Director Statement

Annayude Yatra "Some journeys are necessary" The film explores tender human relationships from the lens of a woman protagonist. The protagonist Anna is a middle-aged woman, from an upper middle-class background. She is educated, married and a mother of a teenage girl child. The film begins with a journey, as she hails a cab ride for half a day, to meet the important people in her life. The cab driver happens to be a Malayali, just like her and they get friendly and have good camaraderie during the journey. They share their own perspectives of life, and sometimes philosophise. The protagonist and the dear ones in her inner circle, go through various emotional arcs as the film progresses. The pit stops during the ride facilitate short meetings with them, unfolding their story and ultimately giving Anna the closure she was seeking. In the process, the cab driver becomes the eyes, ears, and mouth of the audience, thrown into retrospection and thoughts about life in general, love and emotional human needs.
