Anitra Nelson is an activist scholar, writer and occasional maker of short docos. Beyond Money: Yenomon (2022: director, producer, writer and narrator — 7 mins 45 secs) in Official Selection Canada Shorts – Canadian & International Short Film Festival 2022; Mercury Stole My Fire (2005: director, producer, writer and narrator — 12 mins 12 secs) gained an Honourable Mention in the ‘Performance 10–30 minutes on a theme of disability’ category of the 2006 International Picture This…Film Festival in Calgary (Canada) and a Merit Award at the XXVII Superfest International Disability Film Festival (2007) Berkeley (US), and screened at London’s 8th International Disability Film Festival 2008 (UK); The Rhythm and the Line (1999: co-writer, co-director and co-producer with Ruth Williams — 16 mins) among other screenings, selected for the St Kilda Short Film Festival (May 2000) and Melbourne Fringe Short Film Festival (October 1999). Completed Advanced Diploma of Professional Screenwriting (Film, TV, Digital Media) at RMIT (Melbourne, Australia) in 2001.
