My name is Ryan Elise Joiner! I am an 18 year old filmmaker born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently, I am a freshman at Florida State University majoring in Motion Picture Arts with an emphasis on Production. I love film because of its ability to storytell and display human interaction through a unique medium.
Anita is a story about a differently-abled young woman in an abusive relationship and could be triggering for some. I tried to put an emphasis on subtleness to avoid these feelings, however, I acknowledge the heavy weight of the material. This story is also about unity in unlikely places. We all live in our own worlds, feeling alone in our experience. Anita learns that she isn’t, and teaches us that we’re not.
