Anís Serrano was born in the state of Mexico and resides in Zacatecas, Mexico. He has a degree in Communication Sciences and Techniques, a master's degree in Humanities and Educational Processes, a visual artist certified by the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) and a student of the iconic director and film maker Moshen Makhmalbaf of Iranian Neorealism.
Throughout 10 years his professional profile is built from the creation, experimentation and artistic teaching in the fields of cinema, visual arts, video art, sound experimentation and photography. His independent and collaborative work with other artists has consolidated his vision of social and economic development from culture and art giving significant results in cinematography.
Currents such as surrealism, dadaism and expressionism, directors and screenwriters such as Rod Serling and Luis Buñuel, writers such as Franz Kafka and Edgar Allan Poe, visual artists such as David Lynch, Jeff Jordan and René Magritte are some of the figures that influence his artistic work.
He currently works in independent film, video art, photography and audiovisual production works as director, screenwriter and audio/music producer at Pío Films and Anís Serrano Producciones, an art production house. The thematic lines that he addresses in his projects are divinity and the human spirit; mystery, causality and fate.
