I've made two short films exploring the topic of dyslexia. One video focuses on my own experiences with dyslexia and my childhood, and the other focuses on storytelling with dyslexics. Brought together is a visually stunning exhibition of film, music and photography, What’s it Like shares with you the experiences of living and growing up with dyslexia.
Dyslexia was always something I used to hide from. For as long as I can remember I have always felt ashamed and embarrassed about my dyslexia and towards learning (if it wasn't art based.) However, since finishing school, I've had a whole new attitude towards my dyslexia. I now see my "learning difference" as a positive and a part of my creative identity.
I wanted to create something that reflects dyslexia as a positive and highlights the low self-esteem that commonly comes along with having dyslexia, particularly in mainstream education.
