Animated Activism in the Archive
Made to accompany an exhibition at the University of Leeds throughout 2025, celebrating the acquisition by its archive of two feminist collections: those of Women's Aid Federation England, and Leeds Animation Workshop. Both were founded in the 1970s, inspired by the Women's Movement. The film is screened without sound during the exhibition. This version, never screened in public, has a soundtrack made up of music commissioned for a film we made in 1983, about violence against women, informed in part by our experience of living in Leeds at the time of the so-called Yorkshire Ripper murders.
