Animal Religion
“Animal Religion” is a 6-minute live-action animated production that blends various styles to create a unique viewing experience. In a bustling city, a colony of animal spirits emerges to remind humans of their true nature and overcome loneliness.
As the mystical animal spirits guide the city's inhabitants on a transformative journey, viewers are invited to question their own reality and confront the illusions that shape their lives. "Animal Religion" serves as a powerful reminder to embrace our authentic nature and seek genuine connections, rather than relying on material possessions.

Lihui Liang is an artist and film director originally from Beijing, China, and now based in London. She is most interested in human beings: “Who are we? Why are we here? And what is the biggest crisis of humanity” Through her paintings, she created a Counterreality world with strange creatures, divine animals, and enhanced humans. She would like to invite people to her world to explore their true/potential self that might have been hindered by the constraint in society. "Animal Religion" is her first film.
There are multiple dimensions in our world, and many of them are unseen. Scientists tell a similar story with string theory. Counterreality, on the other hand, tells absurd and wondrous stories of the other dimensions where the rules of social norms in our reality do not apply. Through my film and paintings, I aim to challenge people to think differently than before.
