Ani Priyo is a Melbourne-based actress, emerging filmmaker and writer who has passionately pursued the arts from an early age.
In 2015, she completed a Meisner Acting Intensive course in NYC with the Ward Acting Studio. Ani is also a writer of short stories, screenplays, and poetry, of which a piece of the latter, was published in an independent art journal called, ‘Tenderness’, in the same year.
On her return to Melbourne, she landed numerous roles in music videos, independent short films, and national advertisements and was one of the leads in the national ad campaign for International Women’s Day, ‘50 Shades of No’, which gained a nomination for a glass Lion award at Canne Film Festival. She also performed as the lead in the award-winning short, ‘Pirouette’, which was featured in the lineup for Monsterfest 2020 also screening at Panic Fest in the city of Kansas City, USA.
In February 2024, she performed on stage at Chapel Off Chapel with the Anthropocene Play Company, in the world premiere of Andrea Ciannavei’s, ‘7 Captiva Road’.
In 2022, Ani completed a Diploma of Film at SAE, where she wrote, directed, and edited her first thriller short, ‘Are You A Winner...?’. The film was an official selection at the 2023, ‘Crown Wood International Film Festival’, in Kolkata, India and was also a semi-finalist at, ‘Best Short Fest’, in Ontario, Canada.
In 2024, her short horror screenplay was an official selection in Independent horror screenplay contest, ‘Frights!Camera!Action!’.
In 2024 she graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Professional Screenwriting from RMIT, winning a departure fellowship award.
