Anya's thirtieth birthday begins with a breakdown, as a result of which she injures a colleague. But everyone is used to this and is not surprised, they indifferently do not notice Anna's deep depression, which resulted in a real anhedonia with the inability to want something and have fun. Even her best friend shrugs off her worries and only asks her what she wants. Anya doesn't want anything. Just take a ride with Maxim in his new car - he seems to be the only one who understands and feels it.
Anya cannot hide her neglected life alone from her suddenly arrived mother. Ignoring Anna's depression, mom tries to get her daughter to do what she wants. Anya does not understand how to want something if, because of others, fulfilled desires turn into a complete disappointment. As well as the pregnancy, which she terminated under pressure from the Soviets, not realizing her sincere desire in time.
After the scandal surrounding Anya's reluctance, her mother convinces her that she just needs to start a “normal” life, put aside internal tragedies and spend the evening the way she wants.
Anya pulls on a beautiful dress for her unhealthy condition and goes to a corporate party.
However, this does not change anything. She is alone, she is being teased out of habit, one colleague is joking about Anya's abortion. Only Maxim, now flirting with Anna's friend, could talk.
The only voiced desire - to ride with Maxim - moves away, and Anya leaves… By stealing his car keys. All he has to do is get in the passenger seat next to her.
Anya tries to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him, but he doesn't hear her. Anya realizes that the desire to ride is imposed by her own deceived feelings. The thought turned into disappointment again, and Anya parks the car with her face in the pole. And she leaves, leaving Maxim screaming.
A disheveled Anya is greeted by her mother, a cake and lighted candles, which Anya is now ready to blow out.
