The idea of the project came after I, Saul Preciado, noticed the discrimination that individuals who identify themselves as transexual or transgender suffer over time. I spoke to members of this community and they shared their stories with me. How they become an ignored sex , by men and women alike, that has to deal with daily discrimination that leads to suicide or murder. How society ignores and judges this specific community by not employing them or provide them with opportunities we all enjoy, which leads to criminal behavior such as prostitution and drug selling. I have taught in a Community College for five years and have never had a transgender/transexual student which becomes a worrysome situation. This project is important in order to create social awareness and start creating changes to the path of this community's equal treatment. We must offer them the same opportunities that any of our children enjoy throughout their growth. I don't believe I am the only person that can participate in this type of project; however, I may be one of the few brave enough to say something about it. I've had the idea of this project for more than five years and pitched it to other filmmakers who rejected the idea. Some had even expressed their rejection to this marginalized community and laughed. I wanted to show the suffering of a woman who identifies herself as a transexual and portray the suffering to everyone that watches it. I am inspired by realism and the crude reality of life, also, the necessity of creating change to benefit those who needed the most. I am a fan of what my fellow Mexican filmmakers have accomplished and the way they tell stories in a unique characterized humane trait. Filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro Iñarritu to mention only two. I tried to achieve consciousness about the topic by visually show the desperation and struggle of the lead characters Angela and Eduardo. The short has been chosen by other festivals but not yet screened. I have been a victim of discrimination due to my ethnic background and the way I speak, its HORRIBLE to experience it, I can't imagine the way these individuals feel with the discrimination they are victims from. Angela was the name I chosen because in my mind these individuals are misunderstood angels who suffer the same way that martyrs have suffered over time. My story is based in the story given to me by a Transexual Individual whose life is the same as the character depicted in this story.
