Director Biography - Nick Simotas

Haling from the mean streets of Northern California, Nick started his career very early writing and producing sketch comedy after inspiration from In Living Color (which he was WAY too young to be watching.) Fresh out of college in 2004, he began down a path in animation, having been an editor for Futurama, Cars 3, Finding Dory, Robot Chicken and Looney Tunes Cartoons, which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2021.

Throughout it all, he also progressed into directing, for which his credits include the Emmy Award-winning Back at the Barnyard, LucasFilm's Star Wars: Detours, and the Emmy-nominated SuperMansion, for which he earned an Annie Nomination for Outstanding Directing in 2019.

At some point, he also wrote and EP'd a pilot for Nickelodeon, or so the legend goes.

Director Statement

Having spent nearly half my life building a solid career in animation, I've been wanting to venture into the world of live action. This short film is my first serious attempt at stepping into that world while bringing the wild perspective that animation has given me.
