And the Fourth World
By changing the Iranian regime in 1978, by the order of some revolutionaries, women's singing was banned in addition, to their freedom of dressing.
This meant that women no longer had the right to sing as well as they were forced to wear headscarves, and the Hijab became mandatory.
Shortly afterward, it was announced that women could sing if they were in a group or in a choir, as well as revolutionary-themed poems, accompanied by men's songs.
The main reason was that they believed that women's voices could stimulate men in the case of sexual trends called provoke men. For this reason, they declared it "Haram" (forbidden by the religion).
This belief has plagued highly-talented generations in Iran and caused them to abandon music, committed suicide, be captured and sent to prison, emigrated abroad. As you know, this is a human right and every human being should have his/her freedom.
All these issues affect Iranian musicians, and they struggle with them every day.
By the way, another problem that makes it harder for young people or anyone who loves music in Iran, no matter this is boy or girl, is that there’s a law to get the permission license from the government for any musical activity based on the East of singing or the meaning of your songs by which confront people with many challenges in Iran and cause them to leave their country.
