Andrea A. Walter (she/they) is a British Filipino writer, director and cinematographer, residing in Los Angeles, USA. Born and raised in the Philippines, they graduated with a BA in Film Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, studying cinematography under the mentorship of Michel Hugo, ASC. Afterwards, they worked in live, shooting music festivals and concerts from Morrissey to Bruno Mars. They eventually became a Senior Programmer and head of the Music Video Labs at the Las Vegas Film Festival before moving to LA. They are currently under the mentorship of Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, Sense8).
Andrea wrote, directed and shot their first feature film, Empty by Design (2019; LAAPFF, CAAMFest) in their hometown of Manila. They then served as the director of photography on The Fabulous Filipino Brothers (2021, SXSW, dir. Dante Basco), Asian Persuasion (2022, in post, dir. Jhett Tolentino) and the upcoming film Re-Live: A Tale of an American Island Cheerleader (2024, GLAAD List, dir. Rain Valdez). In between features they worked as a Creative Producer at twitch.tv, creating shows like The Weekly and Gamechangers, that focused on uplifting marginalised voices in the gaming industry, and co-hosts BAMF, a podcast on comic book adaptations in film and TV. On the side, Andrea volunteers their time at the Filipino film collective, Cinema Sala, a community focused on uplifting Filipino filmmakers and their work. Most recently their script Syncopation is part of the Stowe Story Narrative Labs 2023. Currently their short film 'im in love with edgar allan poe" is circulating film festivals (MdFF, CAAMFest, Inside Out).
