Experiencing Interruptions?

Ancora

On a planet that hangs from a balloon, preventing it from falling into a giant monster, a boy intends to destroy the balloon before a strange character, a girl holding lots of balloons, changes his mind, trying to cheer him up by giving them to him to hang from the earth. As the planet gets more balloons to hang from, it is pulled away from the depressing aura of the monster. The boy, now in better shape mentally, is thankful to the girl. He can now see the people living on the planet and goes to them. The monster is gone and he has the will to let himself live.

Director Biography - William Marty Charest Léveillée

William Marty was born in Québec in 2003. Enamored by the story-making process as a whole, he started writing at a young age. Drawing comics was also a passion of his, until he stopped during his teenage years. After a short live-action film, he went back to creating drawn stories. Since he was in a film production program in college, he decided to put together his interests in films and in drawings and found out animation was very much entertaining to him. Ancora, his first animation film, was born from that cross-over. He fancies the strangeness that animation can offer so well.

Director Statement

I am happy that I could bring to life exactly what I had in mind when this idea came to my mind. I stayed true to myself and to my vision!

While an enigmatic film, I really wanted to convey a feeling of hope in Ancora. Even if we might only see the end, the worst in the world, there is always a way to get better and appreciate life in a greater way. Everyone goes through an experience such as that one in their life, and that is why I know that way of thinking is important to share.

Ancora offers a way out, a possible joyful future. There has to be something that holds you together, an anchor to the earth, if you don’t wanna fall down into despair.
