An Unforeseen Darkness

Twelve years before the Invasion of Naboo, Jedi Master Dooku finds himself disillusioned with the Jedi Order. Vanishing from the public eye, he refuses to accept any more missions from the High Council. Months after his disappearance, Dooku is eventually discovered by an old Jedi pupil of his, Mace Windu. Convinced that he is the Chosen One, Windu bags his old mentor to return with him back to Coruscant to help prove such a claim to the High Council. Little does the young Windu know that the infamous Jedi Master has other plans….
This short tale delves deep into Mace Windu’s convoluted past. It really changes how you view Master Windu throughout the prequel series. He’s no longer the abusive Jedi Master that strongly dislikes a 9-year-old boy who was just recently freed from slavery. Instead, you see a Jedi who was promised to be someone he’s not. You see the jealousy and frustration in his eyes every time the true Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker, is around. This story also builds a strong tension between Windu and Dooku, intensifying their reunion on the First Battle of Geonosis. It explores what memories the two may have confronted during that particular conflict.
