Writer Statement

Brazilian producer-director Del Rangel was actively producing this project, was about to approach actor Jake Gyllenhaal for the lead role, when he suddenly passed away on July 16, 2020. Del had finalized a budget for this project, had location scouted within Brazil, had developed color schemes for scenes and costumes for visual emotional drama, and had created a shooting schedule. Del's initial reaction upon reading the script: "A marvelous epic story, full of suspense, hopeness, overcoming, action, romance and pinches of history facts. It was a pleasure read American Immigrant."
To honor Del, I have retained much of his work.
