America Foreclosed
Does history repeat itself? When the stock market crashed in the 1920's, it led to millions losing their homes and building makeshift cities called Hoovervilles, throughout the United States. In 2008, the housing market crashed and millions lost their homes, soon there were tent cities that were called Bushvilles at the time. Sound too familiar? We briefly tackle this subject matter in hope to educate others before they purchase a home. Know what you are getting into, better yet, be prepared for the purchase to avoid foreclosure.

Alexa was born in Lima, Peru. She was raised in Long Beach, California. The only daughter of six, to parents Roberto and Carmen Polar. She was an English major, and considered pursuing a career in law when she found her true passion and commitment to film. Alexa served a brief but memorable term with the United States Army. She studied film at Orange Coast College, where she received a scholarship under a documentary pitch competition related to social awareness. She pitched the idea for America Foreclosed, and won. After production of America Foreclosed, she began production to her final exit project with her co-student partner and best friend Robin Pabello; whom she always teams up with when filming. Her exit project, an original musical entitled Speakeasy to Me.
This is a project that has taken me a few years to film. Originally inspired as my family lost their home to foreclosure when they were scammed into a home and later the banks refused to work with them. They were my driving point to getting this film made. I wanted to tell others of such an issue that was being ignored or easily blamed on others. However, work and school got in the way of fulfilling production. It wasn't until I was given the opportunity at school when I entered my pitch in a competition at Orange Coast College. My pitch was selected, I was given the scholarship to put this production on its way. My good friend and cinematographer rallied up the rest of the money need to properly get this film on its way. We traveled to New York, Las Vegas, and had a 2nd unit in Seattle, all getting true compelling stories to share. I'm very proud of this project and my team behind the project. Without them, this could not have been possible. I just hope that anyone watching this, walks away with something... I strive to make this documentary a form of educating others while being insightful and hopefully entertaining. I thank you for your time and consideration in watching America Foreclosed.
