Amal is originally from Morocco. She's been calling Austin, TX Home for more than 20 years. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from University Mohamed 5th in Morocco. Her love for filmmaking grew as she attended film festivals for her work at the Moroccan TV Station 2M.
After moving to Austin, she stayed involved in the filmmaking industry by working in various films as a Camera Operator, a Script Supervisor, A Production Assistant, and an Extra.
In 2018, she joined the Digital Filmmaking Certificate Program at Austin School of Film in Austin, TX, where she was able to create her first short documentary, Displaced.
She is currently in the research phase of her second documentary about Antarctica and Climate Change.
Her goal is to touch the hearts of as many people as she can with her work, by bringing awareness to social and environmental issues, and to inspire women to follow their dreams.

Austin Micro Film Festival - Spring 2022

It was one of 24 films selected from almost 100 submissions to premiere at Austin School of Film 's SXSW Student Film Showcase during the festival in 2020. Sadly, the festival was cancelled that year, so instead, the showcase was done as an official premiere and showcase produced by Austin School of Film and AFS Cinema.
