Amaal, in Arabic, means hopes. At a time far off in the future, in order for anyone to have a dream or a hope achieved, they have to go and apply at the Holding Company for Dreams Fulfillment. While this company was started in good faith and to support people to reach their goals, things have taken a different turn. Asser is here to apply, and it's his very last day to do so. After taking his application form, he looks around the company at the aftermath of all the wishes being granted to their owners. He makes a tough decision, facing an important person; the owner of the company - Madame Amaal. His request is tough, and they are both faced with difficult choices to make.

Director Statement

Amaal is a take on deeply personal insights that many people relate to. We have all faced situations in which we had to succumb to a certain way of doing things, when sometimes this way is less-than-functional. Every once in a while, along comes a person who has the guts to change the status quo and to face the villain - defying the need for validation. The decision is always difficult for both, and each choice leads to a different (and impactful) outcome. Especially if this villain is someone whose opinion really matters to you. "Amaal" is an exploration of insight, enlightenment, hope, family bonds, and the power of standing for what you believe in.
