Alyssa Katalyna is a Latina filmmaker who produces emotionally intoxicating genre projects for film and television. Originally from her family's farm in Roachdale, Indiana, Alyssa's spark for storytelling was ignited while at Purdue University where she received a dual B.A. in Film Video Studies and Theatre Acting, specializing in stunt performance and visual effects heavy projects. During her time at Purdue, Alyssa performed in several shows and starred in She Kills Monsters. After being admitted to the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Alyssa packed up her Honda Fit and moved across the country to become a MFA in Film and Television Production.
Alyssa's work has been awarded several accolades for both producing and directing. Most recently The Fairchild, a USC thesis she produced, won the Jury Award at the 28th DGA Student Film Awards. Alyssa's projects have also been the recipients of multiple grants including the Epic Unreal Mega Grant and The Project Paradise Fund. She has been awarded the prestigious George Lucas Scholarship at USC, awarded to exceptional underrepresented student filmmakers. She is a National Hispanic Foundation of the Arts Scholar, a finalist for Paxeros' Inaugural Women of Color Commercial Directing Program, and an active member of NALIP and the Chicana Director's Initiative.
Alyssa can be found in all stages of production on a multitude of projects in both film and television. While she continues to push the narrative boundaries through action and virtual production, she is simultaneously releasing shorts in the festival circuit and loving every moment of it. When she isn't directing, writing, or producing, Alyssa can be found exploring the wilderness, rock climbing, or catching up on the latest horror series.
