When I heard my movie "The Messenger Hermes Remembers" was preselected as a finalist in the Alwar International Film Festival I could not believe how fantastic this made me feel. Particularly because it is in Rajasthan where I really love the people, the food and the old architecture. From the photographs, I saw on the Festivals various sites actually made me cry. I so wanted to be there I even started praying to the ancient god Khamadenhu for a financial break so that I could attend.
Unfortunately due to another death in the family, my partners' brother died! So, I had to stay and make the family feel as comforted as possible due to two death just under 6 months apart which literally tore us emotionally apart.
May Byron Ayanoglu and Avraam Angeloglu RIP.
Now the Alwar IFF is a hands-on kind of festival. The diversity of the people who attend and the ability to meet all the delegates from the Cultural Hub of India was all very possible from what I saw and heard by a friend who attended for me. The communications with the Festivals Director Dr. Avnish Rajvanshi were exemplary and he made sure everyone felt welcome with his informative warm and friendly letters.
The cinema looks completely delux and comfortable as well.
You see for me India has always been my home away from home. I have been there perhaps a dozen times over the last 39 years. I have attended three Kumbh Melas and was even given a Sadhus name, Arvindar Puri because they said I was a poet with the camera. I also documented the country for 5 years doing a photographic show called Holy Cow! A portrait of India from the Sacred bovines POV. So I know Indian hospitality and some of the best is in good Old Rajasthan.
With all that said, seeing the photographs published in a variety of places it almost seems like I was there.! I will definitely submit my next movie to these wonderful folks and hope to actually film there one day around spectacular Alwar!
What also made the Festival so endearing to me was that they awarded me with a best Cinematography award for my short Narrative movie of 24 minutes. What also happened because of this festival was that I came up with a story that I hope I can make in India and use all their wonderful talent and skills to try to make a modern movie with huge ramifications inspired by the most important animal on the planet. The Holy Cow!
With all that said I can only say one more thing for the Prosperity, Clarity and Visionary genius of its Director Dr. Avnish Rajvanshi. Live, Long and Prosper., Om Namah Shivaya!

Thank you very much Algis alias Hermes alias Arvindar Puri for your kind thoughts. You have produced an excellent cinema work blending Greek and Indian spiritual heights. It is not easy to capture these subjects in a film. Your work is highly commendable. Looking forward to your participation in Season-2 also.Regards, Avnish Rajvanshi
