In 2024, Chinese architect Ma Yansong was invited by i-Talk to visit the 90-year-old Pritzker Prize laureate, Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza, and explore his renowned works in Porto. The visit included a professional dialogue on Siza's architectural philosophy, which is characterized by both depth and simplicity.
Referred to as the "architect's architect," Siza granted us unprecedented access to his archive, which encompasses over half a century of drawings, paintings, and publications. This archive represents only a fraction of Siza's extensive subconscious information accumulation and his innovative interpretation of continuity in design. It encapsulates Siza's enduring values and serves as the foundation for his poetically inspired architectural creations.
