Aluna
Everything is Aluna. The indigenous Kogi people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia use this as a way to define the space of thought, the invisible, the mind within nature. Aluna is thinking; it is self aware, it has self-knowledge, it is the source of all life. The pre-Colombian society of the Kogi have lived in seclusion since the Spanish Conquest 500 years ago and are highly attuned with nature. They have been warning the world of the catastrophic environmental degradation they have witnessed in recent decades caused by humans. Their home in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta has a unique ecological structure containing every type of thermal floor, which makes the region an ecological mirror to the rest of the planet in many ways. This short experimental film presents a mirror of our own human ecology and its connection to nature. Through motion, touch, and stillness, movement artists Geraldín Acevedo España (Colombia) and Linh Trịnh (Vietnam) explore Aluna. Original soundscape by Elias Hill.
