Experiencing Interruptions?

Alphonso

This film is an intimate look into the personality of philosopher and traveler Alphonso Lingis. The spirit of this American thinker with Lithuanian roots was always drawn to traveling and experiencing of unknown things. The same can be said also in his old age: Alphonso leaves his home - a sanctuary of solitude, nature and his beloved pigeons - and goes yet to another journey.

Director Statement

The process of making this film gave me the profound experience of getting to know Alphonso Lingis - the man and his work. It broaden the horizon of my world view significantly by incorporating the phenomena of gratitude, trust, gifts, etc. into the field of things, which can be recognized, thought about and shared.

By borrowing the concept of Lingis philosophy, I have to say that the force of gratitude shaped the form and the content of this film: I want the viewer to experience the pleasure I've felt in the company of Alphonso - little by little, layer by layer.
