------- Extended Submission Deadline 31st August 2022 -----

ALPAVIRAMA ( a comma in Sanskrit ) is a biennial International Youth Film Festival of short films and Documentaries organized by the Film and Video discipline at NID Ahmedabad since 2011. The festival celebrates short films ( under 30min) by young filmmakers( below 30 yr of age) including students filmmakers.
The 6th edition of the festival is scheduled from 7-12 November 2022. The theme for this year is an eye for change: looking at the change in recent times in filmmaking and film viewing through the eyes of young filmmakers.

We are glad to announce the F30/30 Competition, as well as two new programs: Audiophile and the CineBazaar.

The F30/30 Competition welcomes films under 30 minutes in duration, by filmmakers under 30 years of age from across the world including students filmmakers.

Audiophile is a narrative and experimental sound competition for sound artists, musicians, audio enthusiasts and anyone interested in audio as a medium. The submissions are invited of audio works that push the limits of expression beyond music and radio programs.

The CineBazaar is a space for young filmmakers to connect with producers, production houses and streaming platforms. We aim to facilitate filmmakers in pitching their projects [at any stage of development] to producers for funding. The most promising projects will receive the Alpavirama Project Development Fund 2022.

We aim to establish connections between young people from across the world as a way to build solidarity in this post-pandemic world, as a meaningful evolution from the previous Alpavirama’s focus on Lockdown Stories.

We hope to nurture and develop a practice around films and filmmaking that encourages young people to experiment with the audio-visual as a form both in the fiction and non-fiction genres. We look forward to receiving your works and taking a pause for reflection on our world!
