Alma's Poem
Nothing stagnates, everything remains. In this film our "finite" life is deconstructed as well as the life of a candle where the beginning of life and light transforms into death and darkness. Different stages of life turned into brief moments.

Paulo Fagundes Silva, 22 years old and naturally São Jorge island, Azores. Since he was a child, he has had a great interest in technology, but it is in the camera that he finds his true passion. When he starts his studies at Escola Superior de Artes e Design, in Caldas da Rainha he founds a whole new world surrounded by art. In photography he finds his form of expression. More recently, he decided to explore the possibilities of cinema and made his first film with a special friend.
Teresa Gomes (22 years old) lives in Portugal, Caldas da Rainha, and studies in Escola Superior de Artes e Design.
Her works have always involved sound, arts, and theatre, but her true passion is singing (mainly fado, and Portuguese music).
With her studies completed, she is now exploring the paths that music has given her, creating music and other projects with her band. Cinema came into her life when she joined with a great friend to make a short-movie for his final project in Sound and Image course.
This subject of life and death is a topic that causes us some confusion, and we end up talking about it on a regular basis. We find it difficult for us to identify the feelings and opinions we have in relation to death, and the end of a life. So we decided to explore all these ideas in our film.
In addition, a friend of ours died during this process of creating a concept, and that memory, confusion of thoughts and sadness became fundamental for the construction of this film. We realize that someone's departure leaves us with a physical and palpable void, but that our memory of someone who has passed away will always be present.
I intend to dedicate this film to Abel, who told me that, when he died, he wanted to be reincarnated as a fungus, so that he could take care of our Nature, carrying nutrients through our soil, feeding the roots of our plants. I found this memory tender and important, motivating me to not only create a beautiful and interesting film, but also one that does justice to the memory I have of Abel.
