About
I am a Long Beach-based second-generation Latino American Filmmaker / Composer with education stemming from The Ghetto Film School of Los Angeles class of 2023. I have experience in 16mm Film shooting as well as 35mm/Medium format film stills photography stemming 5+ years. My work is featured at the Huntington Library & Gardens from 2023 to 2024 and I was a key part of a film featured at the Frieze Art Exhibit 2023.
“In making my film, I wanted to capture an authentic portrait of my grandfather Isidro Corona. I sat with him and recorded hours of audio; not knowing what aspect of his life he felt was most important. Upon closer inspection, I found that he spoke an awful lot about his father; or the lack thereof. I wanted to make sure the essence of the film evoked emotions that all of us feel when recalling events we hoped we could’ve experienced, but never got the chance to. In a way, the film made itself because he told it in his own unique way. It was like I only had to think of the visuals, because the story was right in front of me the whole time; I just needed to discover it.” - Maximus Corona
