After graduating in History of Art, Julie integrates Les Films D’ici, a documentary film production company in Paris. She then goes onto assisting directors such as Amos Gitaï, Stan Neumann or Michelange Quay.
After she attends a documentary workshop at La Femis in Paris, it is with renowned director Regis Sauder that in 2008 she co-directs a first documentary film, "Next year in Jerusalem”, a film about the Grand Arenas, a camp in Marseilles through which North African Jews were transiting on their journey to Israel. The film mixes a collection of survivors’ interviews with original cinematographic footage.
With her second film, “A long cry along with the wind’s”, Julie continues her quest on the memory and atmosphere of places staging the emblematic industrial Port of Marseille. The film, where poetic realism and collective imagination mingle together, won a prize at the Ecrans Documentaires d’Arcueil in 2011.
After directing her third film, “Three Sisters”, an insight into her improbable encounter with three religious sisters sent from Abidjan to promulgate Christian faith into the working-class neighborhoods of the city, she draws with All or Nothing, the portrait of a man who chose a lawless life. It is in the forests of his native Corsica that Pierrot, life long fugitive, will guide Julie through songs, stories and memories giving her the opportunity, for her first long feature film, to explore a more naturalistic cinema, inspired by wide open spaces and the power of attachment to the native land, depicting a sensitive portrait of these isolated territories.
"To the coming revolutions " is her second feature film in development about marine scientists and their desire to change our view of the underwater world.
