All is Fair in Love and Film
Hollywood and Disney have set the bar high for love. In real life, however, love usually works out quite differently.
The short film "All is Fair in Love and Film" is about a young man who receives love advice from his movie posters. It quickly becomes clear, though, that what works in the films is doomed to fail in real life.
The film parodies the three classic love stories "Notting Hill", "Dirty Dancing" and "Lady and the Tramp".
The movie was created for my diploma thesis on the subject of parody.
The cheesy clichés of the love story genre offered starting points for a parody. When writing the script, I asked myself the question: What could destroy the romantic moments of the most famous love stories?
However, I did not only want to add punchlines to well-known love films, but also tell my own story. Therefore, I decided to embed the parodies in my own frame story.
The film music was recorded by myself.

My name is Sabine Wimmer and I am 19 years old. In my final year at the Higher Vocational School for Art and Design I created my first movie "All is Fair in Love and Film ("Liebe ist kein Spielfilm)" for my diploma thesis on parody.
My hobbies include acting at the local theatre and in an improv-group and playing the guitar and piano.
I currently study mathematics at university.
I grew up in a very humorous family. Although it might seem like I am making fun of the romance-genre, movies like these are my guilty pleasure. So to combine the two for my short film for my diploma thesis was a no-brainer. The Covid-19 pandemic required me to make a project with the least social contact possible, so I casted my siblings: My twin brother Thomas and my older sister Barbara. The post-production was a challenge, as I had practically no experience with it whatsoever but making my brother wear a wig was absolutely worth it ;)
