Catherine Anne Pace completed her first short film in October, 2020 at age twenty-eight. Over the course of her career thus far, Ms. Pace developed an expertise in real estate development and construction. As a risk analyst, she worked on the Hudson Yards development in New York City where she formed an understanding of urban planning and a passion for community development. After four years in New York, she moved back to Cleveland to work as the construction project manager for the Downtown Cleveland Lakefront Development. In her free time, Catherine enjoys ballet classes, watching films on her projector at home, practicing martial arts, and playing music (pre-pandemic, she spent many nights playing disc jockey in clubs and warehouses in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Cleveland – nowadays it’s strumming guitars and keyboards with pals in the living room).
Ms. Pace received her B.A. in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2015. In addition to economics, she also studied studio art, focusing on two-dimensional design and photography. Continuing to draw on her love of the arts, Catherine chose to study film analysis in Milan for six months.
As a Cleveland native, Ms. Pace has been connected to the arts community since she was a kid taking weekend classes at Cleveland Institute of Art and going go local poetry slams with her father. Moving back to her hometown she is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board of The Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory & Educational Foundation, a local non-profit organization for handmade papermaking and book arts where she interned in her late-teens. She continues her mission for community development and helping others by volunteering at Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center, helping people with special needs in equine therapy classes while working with horses.
Our world is one great stage for all, our time here is spent in cycles. Like leaves, we grow and decay and are born again. Contemporary technology has developed a new universal stage, vast in size, blowing up this old Shakespearean metaphor to a whole new level. All The World’s A Stage is an articulation of this connection to the stage in which we play our parts which is ever-expanding, and the cycle of life which has been the same cycle for all time.
All The World’s A Stage is adapted from William Shakespeare’s As You Like It: Act II, Scene VII. This short is Catherine Anne Pace’s directorial debut film.
