All Saint’s Bay
All Saint’s Bay is located in the east coast of Brazil. It is an area close to city of Salvador and its coastline is populated by a number of small traditional fishing communities.
The Island of Itaparica has several fishing communities distributed along its coast. Most of them live from artisanal fishing and distribute their product close to the city of Salvador.
The fishing communities along the coast of Itaparica are dedicated are responsible for distributing fish to the island’s local markets, but also to restaurants and hotels around the city of Salvador.
This project shows a number of initiatives supported by local NGO’s that aim to contribute to the enhancement of the community’s living standards and their family’s income.

Cristiano Burmester has dedicated himself professionally to photography and
audiovisual documentaries since 1993. During his career, he produced intense
reports in the areas of nature, science, environment, social documentaries and
travel.
His essays were published in different national and foreign publications, such
as: Horizonte Geográfico, Terra, Náutica, Diving, UnespCiência, National Geographic
and Photo Techniques.
Since 1999, he has combined the versatility and knowledge acquired in photojournalism
with the rigor and creativity of advertising work. From his studio in
São Paulo, he produces photographic productions for advertising agencies, publishers
and companies, such as: Competition, DM9DDB, Editora Abril, Editora
SENAC, Louis Dreyfus CommoditiesReebok SmartFit, Sony, Terra.
He is the author of the books, Himalaya, Knowing the Brazilian Sea: fauna and
flora and Knowing the Brazilian Sea: coast and islands, People of the Sea,
among other titles.
He made documentaries for institutions such as the Oceanographic Institute of
USP, The Lexicon of Sustainability, Museu de Arte de São Paulo - MASP, Pinacoteca
de São Paulo and the American Museum of Natural History.
Has exhibited his work in different institutions, museums and galleries in Brazil
and abroad.
Teaching has always been a part og his professional career. He is a professor
at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo since 2004, teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses for Journalism, Advertising and Multimedia
Communications students.
