Alex Dauphin is an award-winning Haitian-American director, writer and actor based in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Dauphin creates art that emboldens empathy by uplifting the under-heard stories of the intersectional marginalized – specifically those of the queer, immigrant, and African-diaspora.
Dauphin just completed her second short film 'By the Lake' as writer-director, which was nominated for "Best Short Narrative Screenplay" at Austin Under the Stars Film Festival. This follows Dauphin's successful directorial debut Jeudi, which won "Best LGBTQ Short Film" at Berlin Short Film Festival, "Honorable Mention" at IndieX, "Semi-Finalist" honors at Indie Short Fest, and was an official selection at 7 additional film festivals including Out on Film, Micheaux Film Festival and Atlanta Women's Film Festival.
Dauphin has served on the directing teams at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Writers Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre and Remy Bummpo Theatre in Chicago.
As an actor, Dauphin’s Television/Film credits include Dynasty (The CW), Ordinary Joe (ABC), Die Hart 2 (ROKU), MacGyver (NBC), Chicago Med (NBC), and Long Slow Exhale (BET).
Dauphin is a graduate of Princeton University, where she concentrated in Politics and African-American Studies.
