Alex Ayre is an award-winning filmmaker, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. From Berwick to Brick Lane - he has worked on moving image projects across the country which document the lives of local communities, and he enjoys blurring the lines of industry standard and community filmmaking. Working as part of Tyneside Cinema's creative team for over a decade, Ayre received a Royal Television Society Award and gained recognition from Channel 4’s Random Acts and BBC Fresh, and also directed several National Lottery Heritage Funded films including his feature documentary The Dream Palace. Now based at acclaimed movement company balletLORENT, Alex works extensively in capturing contemporary dance on film. He is also a producer and filmmaker for NORTH Wrestling.
