Nuel Rustanto Sitompul, or simply Nuel, is an Indonesian filmmaker, based in Prague, Czech Republic. He studied Film Directing and Screenwriting at Barrandov Film School, which is a part of the legendary Barrandov Studio.
His painful experience growing up as the black sheep of his family and a child bullied for years in his school, drew him with stories from his country and every part of the world concerning injustice, oppression & exploitation.
Therefore, his recent films ranged from fantasy satirical-comedy, romance and even horror, but all of his films dissect hidden cases of the past human rights violations in his homeland, to voice his oppressed fellow countrymen. As he believes that cinema is universal, he also dedicates his films for the oppressed people all over the world so truth, justice and humanity can triumph.
