Join us on September 27 - 29, 2019, for a multi-day international festival focused on providing women and femme identifying people, regardless of gender, with a platform to tell their stories, share their work, connect with each other, and experience a uniquely supportive audience. This festival aims to showcase the brilliant works of women and femme identifying people from Alberta and around the world.

The Alberta International Women’s Film Festival (AIWFF) strives to include the diversity and talent of women and femme identifying people in the screen industries and endeavors to inspire future generations about the experiences and contributions of women and femme identifying people through the art of motion picture.

This three-day Festival will present an exciting program of international documentaries, short films, and dramatic works.

We are passionate about supporting up-and-coming women and femme identifying people in all aspects of the film industry - writers, producers, directors, and many others - celebrating their works and achievements. During the event, we will host networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions on the state of women in the screen industries.

We are a filmmaker-focused festival and are now open for submissions for this year. Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway.

Submissions Open – July 8, 2019
Earlybird Deadline – July 26, 2019 ($30 per submission)
Regular Deadline - August 23, 2019 ($40 per submission)

You are welcome to join us for a welcome reception on Friday, September 27 followed by film screenings, panel discussions, professional development sessions, and other exciting events over the course of the three days. Rounding out the festival is a closing reception on Sunday, September 29.

In recognition of a supportive audience, each filmmaker will be given up to 4 tickets to their screening for the crew, family, personal guests, or press.

It was an honor to have my film at this Festival, which each year gets richer in exquisite screenings. I did not have the opportunity to participate in person, but I followed through the media all the programming. Thanks to all the women warriors of the cinema who hold this festival.
